Modernization of the Industrial Heating System at Toyota Boshoku
Toyota Boshoku is committed to reducing its environmental impact by modernizing the industrial heating system at its Somain facility. To this end, Perfesco replaced two old gas-fired heat generation units with energy-efficient equipment.
Our teams installed two air-to-water heat pumps and two high-efficiency rooftop units. They reused as much of the existing infrastructure as possible to minimize both the investment required and the environmental impact of the work.
Concreteconcrete results
This industrial heating modernization project reduced the carbon footprint associated with heating the site, representing 350 metric tons of CO₂ avoided each year. Furthermore, thisthesenew facilities haveimprovethe energy efficiency as well as comfort for on-site employees.
An Effective Partnership
“Combating global warming is a priority for Toyota Boshoku. This project allowed us to avoid a major renovation while reducing our carbon footprint. Thanks to Perfesco, we received comprehensive support, from the planning stage through to completion.”
— Vincent Facon, Vice President of the Somain Plant – Toyota Boshoku
“The Perfesco team demonstrated efficiency and attention to detail. The project was managed professionally, on schedule, and in compliance with safety regulations. The close collaboration between our teams was essential.”
— Jérémy Lancry, Systems & Neutrality Leader – Toyota Boshoku
Customized technical support
Perfesco managed the entire project, from the measurement campaign through to the commissioning of the equipment. In the early stages, the teams conducted technical studies to determine the reference ambient temperatures, the water flow rates in the heating circuits, and the electrical capacity of the transformer. They then drafted the specifications, consulted with suppliers, and selected the equipment locations while taking various constraints into account (space requirements, location, acoustics, etc.). Finally, they oversaw the construction phase through to commissioning.
Optimized Facility Management
Our teams installed a Centralized Technical Management (CTM) system to maximize energy savings and simplify control. This system allows for more precise control and remote management of equipment, while centralizing and tracking energy data. In addition, Toyota Boshoku chose to integrate a free cooling system, thereby completing the energy retrofit to meet employees’ air conditioning needs in an energy-efficient and effective manner.
