Modernization of the Industrial Heating System at SKF France in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire

SKF France is continuing its energy transition by modernizing the heating systems at its Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire facility. With the support of Perfesco, the company has embarked on a major transformation aimed at sustainably reducing its carbon footprint while maintaining a high level of industrial performance.

Specifically, two buildings were equipped with heat pumps to replace old natural-gas-fired hot-air generators. This solution combines energy efficiency, operational effectiveness, and a long-term vision.

Concreteconcrete results

This modernization of industrial heating systems yields immediate and measurable benefits:

  • 77% reduction in energy consumption
  • 86 metric tons of CO₂ avoided each year
  • A significantly reduced dependence on fossil fuels

These achievements are part of a comprehensive decarbonization initiative that SKF has been pursuing for several years. The combined efforts at the site now result in the avoidance of nearly 400 metric tons of CO₂ per year.

A lasting and committed partnership

“The energy transition is a concrete commitment for SKF France. This project is fully aligned with our strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and it will yield tangible results.”

“The Group has high ambitions, and we need partners capable of meeting our requirements. Perfesco has established itself as a key player in this transformation.”
— Frédéric Bouilly, SKF Sustainability Manager – Europe

Furthermore, this collaboration is part of an ongoing partnership that began in 2016, marked by several energy-efficiency projects, including the complete conversion of the site’s lighting to LED.

Customized technical support

For its part, Perfesco handled the entire project, from the design phase through to the commissioning of the equipment. The teams designed a solution tailored to the site’s industrial constraints, incorporating:

  • the installation of rooftop heat pumps
  • the installation of fabric ducts to ensure even heat distribution
  • optimizing energy performance without compromising operating conditions

As such, this turnkey project demonstrates Perfesco’s ability to support its industrial clients with solutions that are high-performing, sustainable, and cost-effective.

A strategy for gradual decarbonization

This achievement marks an important milestone in the site’s energy transition, but above all, it is part of a broader, long-term effort. For more than ten years, SKF has been taking concrete steps to reduce its environmental impact, notably by gradually replacing equipment that runs on fossil fuels.

With this project, SKF is taking a new step: moving away from natural gas and shifting toward more sustainable electric solutions, while strengthening its energy independence.

A More Sustainable and Resilient Industry

This project exemplifies a strong conviction: industrial decarbonization is achieved in practical terms, project by project, by balancing economic performance with environmental responsibility.

The collaboration between SKF and Perfesco demonstrates that it is possible to take effective action—starting today—to create a more sustainable industry.
